“Murphy Brown Moon Shadow has a lovely story of perseverance, community, motivation and love,” Carla Naden, creator of Animal Synergy– a rescue, rehabilitation and sanctuary for special-needs animals in Vista, California, composed to me when I asked to share the pup’s story, which starts for us in January 2020.
“The short variation exists was a pet dog seen by a rescuer (Virginia Ramirez Wright) in Mexicali, who was paralyzed and dragged herself all over,” states Rebekah Snyder, MBMS’s foster moms and dad. “Locals understood of her; she was stated to be in this condition some months. The rescuer was horrified at her condition and took her to a vet and requested for help on Facebook.”
Rebekah followed the pet dog’s story on Facebook, contributing money to help with her 6 weeks of medical care. When a rescue company in Malibu, California, accepted take her in, Rebekah carried her there from Baja California, Mexico. The rescue didn’t have experience caring for a paralyzed pet, however Rebekah did. “I had actually had paralyzed dogs prior to and understood it was going to be a comprehensive journey, as she was still battling extreme injuries, infection, would need a chair, massive weight gain, physical therapy, and so on ……”
The rescue called her within 24 hours and asked her to come get the pet. Rebekah states, “She wasn’t my dog– she was no one’s canine– but now I felt totally accountable for her future which she didn’t get let down again. That’s when I called my vet to get a complete assessment of what I was taking a look at and started calling special-needs saves.”
Hint Carla Naden’s entryway into Murphy Brown Moon Shadow’s life. “She sees the charm beyond the damaged, the potential– not the pain, and the future for the forgotten,” says Rebekah. “Instead of seeing incontinence, Carla sees the world as Murphy Brown’s toilet. And now I do, too.”
Because of Animal Synergy, MBMS now has an entire group behind her. “From medical to behavioral to nutritional, as Murphy Brown’s foster, I get “empathy consulting, suggesting every step of her care she has enormous assistance, as do I; something so needed when one handles a special-needs dogs,” states Rebekah. “Murphy Brown went from no one’s pet, to a pet dog of the people.”
